Audio Storytelling: Playwriting and Performance

$0.00

Radio on the Lake Theatre’s Audio Storytelling collection offers programs at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels to accommodate different age ranges in 3rd-12th grade. Depending on the length and level of the program, students will learn the fundamentals of theatre, character building, improvisation, playwriting, performance, sound effects, editing and more! Throughout the course, students will get the opportunity to create a story, scene, or play and record it on professional-grade equipment, receiving a final product at the end of the program to share with family and friends. Participants earlier in their education will focus on character development to create the foundations of story creation. As participants get older, the program grows with them to accommodate their growing brains and creativity. The program for older students will begin to focus on relationships between characters and the foundations of playwriting interactions between these characters. Longer residencies allow students to explore multiple characters and learn the logistics of voice acting multiple roles as well as the intricacies of creating entertaining and important stories. The Audio Storytelling collection is designed to nurture students’ love for theatre and provide an outlet for creativity while building and growing their knowledge of storytelling.

All Radio on the Lake Theatre programming incorporates Social Emotional Learning. We strive to give students a space where they can create and think freely in a safe environment. This program - and all of our programs - are designed to give space for healing and growth in students so that they can use the artform as a learning tool. Radio on the Lake focuses on the power of empathy as a leading light in our programming. Students' increased self and social awareness through the exploration of their character work leads to strengthening skills in empathy.

ROTLT offers the Audio Storytelling: Playwriting and Performance program at any age range in 3rd-12th grade. The program is best suited for long-term residencies but is available at any length of implementation. The program is best suited for in-school programming but is available in any implementation setting.
