The History of Hip Hop and Street Dance

$0.00

Our lectures and seminars translate Hip Hop and Street Dance into accessible, standards-aligned learning for classrooms, assemblies, or professional development. Using short demonstrations, media, and discussion, we trace the culture’s roots, geographic influences, key pioneers, and the social movements that shaped the dance. Sessions can focus on themes like Dance as Dialogue, Resistance, and Archive, From Party to Performance, or Freestyle Science and creativity in real time.

Designed for middle school through adult audiences, sessions can run 45 to 90 minutes and adapt for ELA, Social Studies, Music, or PE integration, as well as OST settings. We connect artistic practice to SEL, like voice, agency, and collaboration, and to academic skills like close listening, argumentation, and historical thinking. Schools often pair lectures with assemblies or residencies to create a full learning pathway. Multi-session formats conclude with a student-led reflection or performance share to lock in learning.
