Story To Song

$0.00

Story to Song is a versatile program that bridges the fields of literary arts and music. Participants take turns sharing personal stories and then work together to transform those stories into high-quality songs. In addition to providing students an introduction to storytelling and basic music concepts, the program provides the opportunity for participants to build stronger relationships with each other through the practice of sharing, active listening, collaboration, and creative expression. Our goal is to help participants develop compassion for each other and a deeper understanding of the incredible diversity of human experiences. The final product will be at least one finished song that students will have the opportunity to sing and perform either individually or as a group.

  • Participants will identify key themes and ideas in stories.

  • Participants will practice collaborative discussion and problem-solving

  • Participants will apply artistic and critical thinking skills to write, develop, and refine their songs.

  • Participants will learn and practice social-emotional skills, including active listening, collaboration, and compassion.

  • Participants will work individually and in groups to create and perform music that has an impact on their community.

The program can be adapted to any age group.
