Ink on the Mirror: Self-portrait Monotype

$0.00

This hour-long experiment in observation drawing cultivates both perceiving and reflecting academic standards, surprising the student with the unexpected gift of a print. After following their own features driving a brush dipped in oil-based ink on a plexiglas mirror, the students take a print from such plate by hand rubbing a spoon on the back of the paper they deposited on the mirror. Several versions can be produced by refreshing, adding and subtracting new lines and marks. By avoiding the 'I can't draw' block, the students find agency in this work that deeply fosters self-awareness.
