Dance Matters: Moving to Learn

Dance Matters: Moving to Learn integrates dance with academic subjects to create a dynamic learning environment that enhances physical expression, critical thinking, creativity, and understanding of core curriculum standards. The program is adaptable to different scheduling needs and customizable to address different learning standards, grades, or level of student. Each session builds progressively by incorporating warm-ups to strengthen body-mind connectivity followed by activities that integrate core curriculum subjects with dance elements such as space, energy, shape, and rhythm. The program culminates in individual or collaboratively created group dances providing students with opportunities for self-expression and creativity. Reflection and social emotional learning objectives are integrated throughout the experience. This flexible structure ensures engagement and accessibility for a variety of age groups and learning styles.
