Hip-Hop Rhyming Essays

In small groups, participants will collectively create and perform short rhyming essays in a hip-hop lyric format, themed around reading assignments in conjunction with English language arts curriculum. They will also be introduced to digital DJ & music production software and each have a chance to make drum patterns, scratch & mix instrumental music. Participants will also explore formulating thesis statements, articulating point-of-views, group collaboration, and public speaking in the context of song creation, music theory, and creative expression.
