What A Parallel: Dance and Geometry

$0.00

Tom Evert of Dance Evert has created this impactful program that integrates the study of geometry with the art of dance.  The human body relates to geometry, in that our bones are lines and our joints create angles.  With the discipline of full- body movement activities from sitting on the floor to standing, participants find creative expression for the academic standards of lines, angles and 2-dimentional shapes as they move through space. This residency culminates with the creation of a performance which demonstrates participant understanding of the academic content standards for 4th grade geometry.

Multiple intelligences are engaged as participants interact with others and express themselves physically, spatially, musically, social-emotionally and artistically.   Students improvise, create, and perform movement phrases with concentration and kinesthetic awareness.
