Build a Ballet: Storytelling Through Dance

$0.00

During this program, students will read a book as a class or in groups, and then recreate the story in dance form. Specifically, students will determine central ideas or themes of a text, analyze their development and provide a summary/analysis. With teaching artist guidance, students will begin to apply and combine the elements of dance to express the ideas, feelings, moods, and narrative of the story, which incorporates Ohio’s fine art learning standards for dance. Additionally, due to the heavy group-work component of this program, students will be prompted to utilize important relationship-building skills such as generating ideas to reach a compromise and applying conflict resolution skills to manage disagreements. This program is ideal for 3rd through 5th graders and culminates in a short (3-5 minute) student performance!
