Shawn Kerns

Shawn Kerns is an American artist, assemblagist, painter, writer, musican, director and conceptual artist whose deliberately provocative art addresses cultural, social, and the constant documentation of life.

He grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland. From 1995-1999 he attended Marietta College. He started his professional career painting murals for Disney and Universal Studios then moved to creating animations for the Internet. In 2002 he moved to South Korea to perform in the band Fan Death, there he recorded two albums and served as a studio musician for K-Pop star Lee Jung Hyun. His artwork and movies were featured in numerous magazines and galleries during his ten years in Asia.

In 2011-20014 he attend Kent State University for his MFA. He worked for the Cleveland Museum of Art and MOCA Cleveland from 2014-2019. Recently his art has been featured at Cleveland Ingenuity, MOCA Cleveland and film festivals across the world. In 2023 he received an Art Residency in Togatta, Japan. He has published two books Boinkman the Art Handler and K-Pop!
