Aja Grant
Aja Joi Grant is a portrait photographer, utilizing digital media, 35mm film, and alternative process.
Her work highlights a reciprocal & symbiotic relationship between man and nature, and focuses on shape and lighting to tell an individual’s story. In her teaching practice she focuses on helping students develop their own photographic and editing style through art history references and experimentation.
She has a background in psychology and working with the ASD community, and has been working with youth in science and art contexts since 2016.

During Self Portrait & Digital Collage, students explore contemporary artist's work and style, familiarizing themselves with standard approaches to communicating themes through imagery and representative elements in a work of art. (Standards 7.3CR/HSP 3CR). Through this observation and experimentation with shape, color, composition, and style, students use responsibly sourced imagery blended with their own photography. Utilizing self-awareness and 7.2PE/HSP.2PE to make a self-portrait image that will be the focal point of their collage, along with other photos they may choose to take to fully communicate their theme.
